Two questions Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 1
Two questions - Essay Example There is a contract that exists between Standard Storage Company and Tri-county Investment Corporation of the transaction of the sale of the mentioned warehouse. The contract is quite clear in all its elements and further mentions clearly that there is a lot of silence about the office furniture. Therefore, any disagreement should never arise on whether office furniture is included in the sale as the contract goes ahead to mention that the document, which is the contract itself, supersedes any agreement made before or after the contract of sale. Hence, all the emails that the parties exchanged regarding the mention of the furniture as part of the sale are declared null and void, as this is not stated in the binding document that is the contract of sale. The contract of sale of goods demands that there be a detailed description of the goods or property being sold, their serial number and any other data applicable. Therefore, the seller is obligated to ensure that the goods or property they are selling is free from liens claims, encumbrances, or restrictions (Jentz, Clarkson, Miller and Cross 46). In a contract to sale, the must exists the following requisites to enable its execution. There must be an agreement between the parties that is one party must be willing to sell and the other willing to buy. Secondly, a consideration must exists of which in our case is the price consideration hence the price of the goods or the properties must be well stated. Of course it is a common phenomenon that the parties willing to engage in the contract to sale must have the required contractual capacity hence competence to enter the agreement. The purpose of the contract must be legal in nature hence ability to pass the test of the law incase of any disagreement and the apparent consent of both the parties must be genuine and not a pretence. Finally, the agreement must be in whatever form as required by law. If the above contract to sale satisfies

The Practice of Counselling Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words
The Practice of Counselling - Essay Example I might have a slight discomfort with the psychodynamic approach as the supervisor has to focus on student-counsellors' reactions to clients' transference/counter-transference issues. A supervisor should assist the student counsellor examine personal issues but only if these issues relate to problems occurring in the therapeutic relationship between student/counsellor and clients. Person-centred approach: the approach revolves around the self awareness of both the counsellor and the client. As such, it helps open door to such significant matters as power balance between the counsellor and a client, and the importance of communication between the two. I am more comfortable with the person-centred approach, as it lets a counsellor to exercise their discretion, thus allowing their patients to have authority over their experience regarding their problems. On the other hand, the psychodynamic approach helps break down a client's defences, as well as in the uncovering of unconscious motivations. The psychodynamic approach overemphasises on sex, aggression, and childhood experiences. It is also difficult to quantify and measure the concepts that are proposed, hence I not feel comfortable with this approach. On the other hand, the person-centred approach is more concerned with the attitudes and values of a therapist rather than their skills. The approach also disregards the significance of the past. What 5. What does this say about your personality What does it say about your approach to counselling What this suggests is that rather than being pragmatic, I value form. Additionally, this is an indication that as a person, I value listening and learning about others, as well as hearing from them what it is that they would wish to do with their lives. It is an indication that I like helping people to think about not just what they want with their lives now, but also in the future. It also indicates that my approach to counselling is one that is geared towards ensuring a coherent understanding of the communication process with a client. Chapter 5: Ethics Write a short essay (200 words) on the core ethical principals that were covered in Chapter 5 and if you have a personal example of an ethical dilemma, please include this - even if it has not been resolved. Ethics are not only guidelines but a personal philosophy and approach to the person's whole life. The counsellor cannot uphold being ethical in personal life and wear a different set of values in the professional life. The counsellor will certainly experience conflicts and lack of clarity in their work. The ethical principles provide guidance for accessing increased awareness and higher level of consciousness. The

On Site vs Online Classes Essay Example for Free
On Site vs Online Classes Essay In assessment of online and classroom (on-ground) knowledge gives specific students that has interest according to how they learn. Taking online classes for me works so much better because I can go at my own pace. After doing some research online I found that there is a debate regarding the matter of online classes vs. traditional classrooms. At a point in time I recently had a debate on their opinion in classroom learning and the online classes. Their opinion has given me a better understanding on the format in relation with on ground classroom setting. Although I feel strongly about my online courses my friend says they will never stop attending school on site. As I continue on I will state the difference of the classroom setting, online classes, and the summary response towards from the textbook. As well as, give some example of the differences between older and younger students attending traditional classroom and online classes. The classroom setting has human contact which might be better for interaction purposes. With the professor there in person they can better explain things that might get misunderstood through typing in an email or on the class discussions. This could also be said for the classmates in your class, who are trying to make their point understood. A classroom for some has less distraction which makes it easier to do class work, reading assignments, and homework that may not get done due to work schedule or lifeââ¬â¢s unexpected turns. Also a classroom setting has more of a community feeling, everyone bands together to understand one another and their differences. For example, when youââ¬â¢re asked to participate in group activities you try and co-inside with your teammates in order to get a reasonable grade even if your opinions are different. As an online student I find it very easy to study and process all information that is needed. Being able to work on my own and on my own pace is challenging, but not able to physically to get hands on help from an instructor is complicated. Having trouble with some problems and school questions can be very complicated due to the fact that speaking with an instructor through email and not receiving the information right way or getting direction makes it really hard to get a better understanding on how things can be done. Last but not least receiving information is not enough because the due date for assignments for class is not the same for online courses. Making an effort to continue with education is had when I am in need with extra help. Positive outlook on this is being able to work and still spend all the time I can with my children. In summary of the text question is that I have learned in my online course being that it is very hard and challenging, but the passion I have to better my childrenââ¬â¢s future as well as for myself. Starting online classes has scared me because of the fact that I really thought it was going to very advance with no help. Being that I have already started this course I have came to understand that online is not as hard as I made it seem in the beginning. I am very interested due to the fact that I already have a plan for my familiesââ¬â¢ future. Showing that I have the passion to care for my family and to be the provider that I am gives me the power to finish in something I started by working, online classes, and being the single mother that I am. Continuing on with this course I am able to speak to my fellow classmates as well as for the tutor we have online to process all information. These are some summaries that I have on this course. In conclusion I have notice that I carry many thoughts in this subject. The audience that have received they have a busy life just like myself. Letting them know that this subject is hard but hard work pays off also being able to spend time with work and family while being enroll in school. An online class gives you the opportunity to be able to live normal life but process all information that is needed. My audience has given me questions that I have asked myself how I can get help when the responses are not as immediately response that we need. The purpose of this subject s being able to process all information that is needed to get through a better writing skill and having a better way to be more accurate in all materials. The end results is to being able to write all my writing materials a lot better than before, more meaningful, and have better ability to write all papers. With this is a gives me understanding in difference of the online classes to just make the choice to contin ue on a path of achievement. According to Carron Jackson, for those of us who are 18-21 we may be better in a college campus because of the social atmosphere it provides. She also states that for those of us who are older and have families and jobs, college is viewed as an education not a social life. Jackson continues with the common reasons as to adults returning to school and 18-21 year olds enrolling in school. She says that adults go back to get higher salary, career advancement and personal growth. 18-21 year olds go because of the pressures from parents, teachers, guidance counselors, for parties with peers, and an actual desire for higher learning to earn a college degree. This debate could continue on until we are blue in the face, some like online classes other prefer traditional classrooms. I really think it has to do with comfort and our learning styles. In conclusion, I have learned that just from my experience alone both ways of studying for me is better on ground classes. Being that everybody learning habits are best understood as a student on an on ground class this will show in the difference of the grade. With this capability we as individuals learning is a great thing, but knowing that learning ways fits well with what helps each person at the end of it all. In many points for me my grade is better as an on ground class then in online classes even though I enjoy both studying moments.
Arguments in Favour of Single-Sex Schools
Arguments in Favour of Single-Sex Schools The topic on single sex schools has drawn wide and different opinions in the public domain for a long time. Individuals, groups, institutions and authorities have so far presented different thoughts regarding the topic. By definition, the phrase, ââ¬Å"single sex schoolâ⬠means a form of a school where by boys and girls attend different schools. To be precise, single schools implies, girls attending a school that is specifically for girls while boys attending a schools that is specifically for boys. Thus, single school unlike the conventional or rather traditional schools (mixed schools) is an ideology that even though has been in existed for a long time, some people in the community feels it is a good idea that need to be embraced. Meanwhile, there are some people too who feel that girls and boys should learn together in the same school as it will help them develop together as one. Regardless of the many thoughts that have been presented opposing the view, single sex schools w hen implemented, they are good for education. One of the reasons why single sex schools are good for education is that; they create a feeling of safety, encourages students to embrace their lifestyle as well as discouraging any form of distraction in the course of pursuing their dreams through education. There are a number of students whose education has been affected due lack of concentration in class. This is because some students find it so hard to focus when they are in a conventional class. This is a problem that is very common with boys as opposed to girls. Boys tend to lose focus in a class of mixed gender because they will be trying to act different in order to attract their female class mates. Worse still, it is really hard for boys to focus on learning while there are a stream of cute ladies to admire in the same class. Nevertheless, it is important to note also that, this problem does not affect all boys but then the percentage of boys who get distracted from learning because of beautiful girls in class is higher as o pposed to the percentage that does not get affected (The Many Advantages of Single-Sex Schools, n.p). Meanwhile, there are a number of girls who get affected too when in a conventional school. This arises on matters concerning safety. Psychologically, young girls fear being touched physically. This creates fear among them and as such they are not in a position of undertaking their studies in a normal way. On the other hand, female students will feel free and safe if they are enrolled in a female school where by they are encountering fellow girls. This creates confidence and thus s boosts their academic performance, a clear indication that same sex schools are good for education. On top of that, it is also factual that both boys and girls develop different in the process of growing up. This is evident given the fact that, girls develop faster as compared to boys. Moreover, the thinking capacity of ladies grows exponential faster as opposed to that of boys. This indicates that the nee ds of girls are to some extent different from that of boys. Thus, there is need to encourage single sex schools that will help girls and boys understand the needs of their bodiesââ¬â¢ well which eventually can be translated to good performance (Single-Gender Classes, n.p). According to Gilbert (par. 5 and 6), the education system has been stormed by females as opposed to males. Gilbert presents his finding that, the number of female administrators in most schools is higher as compared to males in many schools. He also states that, the number of female teachers in mixed schools is higher than those of male teachers. Gilbert also observes that, female students have the ability to observe their emotions well as opposed to students. On top of that girls are also known to be better readers as opposed to boys. Worse still, the current education system tend to emphasize more on cooperation. This leaves boys stranded in their studies, because they prefer more physical actions and competition. In fact, Gilbert asserts that, this type of system favors girls who excel while the performance of boys keep on deteriorating. In his conclusion, Gilbert thus argues that, mixed schools only favors girls as opposed to boys. In his justification, he asserts that, co-ed sch ools affects boys in that they lose attention in learning, as well as ending up suffering from developmental disorders. Thus, Gilbert suggests that, the best way to promote equality in education for both boys and girls is to adopt singe sex schools given that co-ed schools tend to favor girls as opposed to boys. Another view as to why single sex schools are good for education as opposed to co-ed schools is from the point of teachers. Given that the behavior and needs of both boys and girls are different, teachersââ¬â¢ performance is also affected in the process of delivery in class. This sis because, there is no uniformity in terms of approaching different issues in the same class. As such, a teacher must treat a boy different as well as a girl in a unique way too. This affects teachersââ¬â¢ precision. However, embracing singe sex schools, teachers will be able to link their instructions methodology to the behavior of their students and thus good for education (The Many Advantages of Single-Sex Schools, n.p). Meanwhile, an environment plays a great role in student performance. A favorable learning environment contributes to high performance of students as opposed to an unfavorable environment. A relaxed environment is good for a learning set up as opposed to a chaotic environment. This works for both boys and girls. However, one thing that need to be clear is that in co-ed schools, boys and girls try as much as possible to impress one another. In so doing they feel fixed in that they are supposed to act in a manner that attracts one another. In the process, a girl or a boy may fear asking a question because she/he may think it will not impress their opposite sex counterparts. This affects the students in expressing themselves openly and if continues for a long time, it becomes a habit that cannot and will never be erased. Actually it becomes part of their life and accompanies them in the rest of their live. In comparison to single sex schools, students have nobody to impress and as such, they fear less in asking questions, that is an important element in learning. Moreover, the ability to engage with others without feeling intimidated by the gender of the opposite sex spark debates and conversation that enhances education in a positive manner (Kennedy, n.p). Indeed, education is one important gift to both boys and girls. It is through education that boys and girls can be able to achieve their various dreams in life. Thus, there is need to adapt a model that works for both of them. Over time, there has been a debate as to whether single sex schools improve student performance. This debate has drawn a lot of views from the students themselves, parents/guardians, teachers, human support groups as well as the legal authority. Even though there are opposing views concerning the encouragement of single sex schools on the premise that; they tend to separate girls and boys making them fear one another and thus leading to isolation as well as contributing to high level of divorce in the long run, single sex schools are good for education for various reason. One of them is that they encourage a feeling of safety, promotes a feeling of safety as well as avoiding any form of distractions. Another reason is the fact that boys and girls develop differ ently as well the undeniable truth that schools are stormed by females as opposed to males, which makes boys uncomfortable. On top of that, teachers are also more productive in single sex schools as opposed to co-ed schools due to uniformity. Moreover, single sex schools enables students to engage in debates and conversation without any form of gender based intimidation. Works Cited Gilbert, Michael. Change is Memorable When readers read a book that they like, they will remember at least one character in the book for some specific reason. Authors have many different ways to make a character memorable but one of the most common ways that characters become memorable is the way that they change throughout the story. William Faulknerââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"A Rose for Emilyâ⬠, Anton Chekhovââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"The Lady with the Pet Dogâ⬠, and Flannery Oââ¬â¢Connorââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"Good Country Peopleâ⬠all have main characters that are memorable because of the changes that take place physically and mentally in their respective stories. In the story, ââ¬Å"A Rose for Emilyâ⬠, William Faulkner creates a mysterious yet respectable character. The changes that Miss Emily experiences in the story make her a memorable character. Faulkner uses symbolism in order to show the changes that take place with Miss Emily. The changes in Miss Emilyââ¬â¢s hair can be taken as a symbol for the changes in Miss Emily herself. Before the death of Homer Barron her hair is ââ¬Å"cut short making her look like a girl, with a vague resemblance to those angels in colored church windows.â⬠As the story moves on her hair ââ¬Å"grows grayer and grayer until it attains an even pepper-and-salt iron-gray.â⬠Her hair grows a dull color as Miss Emily turns into a dull person. Her hair, in the beginning, is described as one of an angel, and then described as one you would find on a witch. In the beginning of the story Miss Emily has no bad intentions and later, her fears of being alone lead her to turn evil as she poisons Homer Wagoner 2 Barron. As her hairââ¬â¢s appearance goes from innocent to evil Miss Emily goes from being innocent to evil. Her hair loses its life, foreshadowing the future of Miss Emily. Another memorable character is that of the womanizer Dmitri Gurov in ââ¬Å"The Lady with the Pet Dog.â⬠Gurov is the protagonist in ââ¬Å"The Lady with the Pet Dogâ⬠and the readers get to view the changes of a man who has fallen in love but then is forced to examine the way that he looks at the world. Gurov is memorable because the things that he does and says on the surface are not the way Gurov actually feels about the world. Although he looks down upon women and refers to them as "the inferior race," Gurov furtively admits that he feels more relaxed with them than he does with men.

Leadership Essay -- essays research papers
Twelve Oââ¬â¢Clock High Introduction to the paperââ¬â¢s subject, and primary objectives: General information regarding the topic of this paper: The purpose of this paper is to identify and contrast the different styles of leadership exhibited by two characters found in the 1949 movie Twelve Oââ¬â¢Clock High starring Gregory Peck as General Savage, Army Air Forces general. Based on a true story, Twelve Oââ¬â¢Clock High is a inspirational account of the highly dangerous precision daylight bombing missions carried out by US Army Air Forceââ¬â¢s 918th Bomber Group in England during the last part of World War II. In the beginning of the movie the squadron is commanded by general Davenport. It is very clear that General Davenportââ¬â¢s main concern is the wellbeing of his men. He obviously had developed close interpersonal relationships. The men of the squadron were completely devoted towards Davenport and they trusted any decision that he would make. General Davenportââ¬â¢s affection for his men comes to interfere with his ability to lead them. The squadron suffers heavy losses to planes and heavier losses to soldiers. One instance that clearly demonstrates Davenportââ¬â¢s incapability to uphold his responsibilities as the leader is when he jeopardizes the well being of the entire squadron by ignoring protocol and flying out of formation in the attempt to save one plane. When it becomes apparent to Davenportââ¬â¢s superiors that his emotional feelings have become an obstacle to his effectively leading the squadron they relieve him. General Savage who is ordered to take over the underachieving bomber group experiencing heavy losses because of poor technique and lack of focus. Savage takes a kind of tough love approach, holding his men to the highest standards. Savage makes the point that the ultimate objection of the squadron is to successfully complete the assigned missions. Throughout the movie Savage constantly makes it absolutely clear to the squadron that no one individualââ¬â¢s wellbeing will be placed ahead of the entire team and the success of the team. Initially the changing of the preceding General dispirits the squadron. They felt that General Savage was uncompassionate considering the men as nothing more then numbers that were dispensable at his convenience. After several missions that were marked by a remarkable turnaround in success the man eventually come... ...rganization this movie offers a very concrete example for people in authority to follow. It can also be applied in situations where there has been a recent change in authority. According to the book leaders that have recently entered a position of authority should be more task specific in the way they interact with employees. This will clear up some of the ambiguity associated with the needs of the new leader to the employees. Reasons why Savage succeeded where Davenport failed: Differences in primary motivation: Davenport was primarily motivation was the establishing and maintaining of close interpersonal relationships with his followers. While Savage, on the other hand, was primarily motivated by task accomplishment. As in this type of situation Savageââ¬â¢s style is more effective. However, even though Davenport failed in this situation I feel that his leadership style has the potential to be highly successful in an environment that are more favorable. In this example Savage was faced with a crises. In periods of crisis leaders identify problems and implement solutions tend to be the most effective. Clearly Savage does a better job of making his expectations clear.
Personal Statement Example
I was born and raised in a third-world country: Ethiopia. Even though Ethiopia is mainly known for her poverty and destitution, my life there was not that bad. Since my dad has lived in the USA since long before I arrived, I was able to go to private school in Ethiopia and get a good education. I came to the USA when I was fourteen years old. Nothing was as easy as I thought it would be. New country, new language, new home, new school, new friends: everything was new for me. Being a high school student made it even harder. It is obvious that all teens face typical problems during their high school life, like bullying, peer pressure, teen pregnancy, and boyfriend/girlfriend problems. Well, imagine how hard it is for foreign students to get used to a new country and new school on top of all those problems. It was not easy for me to make new friends, to get used to the new school, and, most importantly, to develop my English. However, those obstacles didnââ¬â¢t stop me from getting ou tstanding grades in my classes, even the ones that seemed like they might be beyond my level. It has been a lifelong dream of mine to go to college in Boston. When I was in Ethiopia, I always used to tell my friends that I was going to graduate from Boston University one day. After I came here, I realized that it is extremely competitive to go to college in the United States, especially top-tier colleges like Boston University. But that didnââ¬â¢t stop me from dreaming and working hard to accomplish my lifelong goal. As Gail Devers once said, ââ¬Å"Keep your dreams alive, understand that to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard-work, determination and dedication. Remember all things are possible for those who believe. So, I believe in myself and I know I can fulfill my dreams as long as I work hard. I believe Success is the son of Hard Work, so even if I have to suffer a lot to reach the top of the success ladder, I am willing to face any challenges. Without suffering, and without obstacles, life wouldnââ¬â¢t make any sense. The main reason I wanted to attend the summer high school honors program at Boston University is, as I mentioned above, that Boston University is my dream college. Attending the summer program at one of the worldââ¬â¢s top universities would be an extraordinary experience for me. Also, taking ourses that are not available at my high school and earning up to eight college credits is a great opportunity for me to open the door into success. Since I am a junior right now, next year would be my last year in a high school. I wanted to take Precalculus and Calculus during my high school years. Because I want to major in pre-med paired with math, since i have passion for both science and math. But the problem is that I can only take precalculus next year. But if I attend the summer high school program, I would be able to take precalculus which it will allow me to take calculus during my senior year. My dream is to be a doctor, and I believe Boston University will help me to become a well-rounded, generally educated, and most importantly, the best doctor. I am very thrilled and excited to attend the summer high school program at BU, because BU fits my kind of personality which is, capacious, conscientious, agile and orthodox. so for an imaginative girl like me, Boston University is the perfect place, and I am eager to meet like-minded students from different parts of the country. to broaden my experience of American Academic landscape beyond Orange,NJ. Personal Statement Example Photography is law-breaking. The possibilities are endless. Why should we stick with fashion existing notions when we can challenge them? Our world is our oyster and is there for us to use it. I find amazing how fashion is an ever-changing issue. Fashion analyzes the history of our world and re-invents it in a contemporary way (e. g the Dior Spring 2004 collection inspired in the Ancient Egypt). Fashion is not just what we wear; it changes attitudes, personalities, manners, the effects it has are unbelievable (e. g James Dean teenage look and making denim fashionable) this is why my passion for it is dazzling. My aim is to produce an original response to fashion photography which is edge-cutting & convey something more than a standard image. Since I was 4, I started to admire beauty; I drew portraits of my mother & started developing an awareness of what beauty & fashion is. During my childhood, I was attached to a pencil; my arising curiosity & admiration for the female form grew as I kept developing my art skills; specially drawing women. These activities started to hook me to fashion, photography & make-up. I have been lucky to have a close group of 7 girls. My amusement with photography started when I began to shoot them.Suddenly, photography started to fascinate me & I became really devoted & dedicated; always eager to learn a& keep doing photo shoots frequently. In my photography, I try to unearth the raw beauty with make-up, angles, lightning & directing model properly. I cherish observing at people; how the light reflects on them, their face, eyes and I imagine poses; my mind is a non-stop rollercoaster of ideas. My ambition & determination made me start working with clients when I was 15. These clients were other girls who saw photographs on social networks & started to want me to shoot them & I began to gain money.I prepared a portfolio and went to Carmen Duran (model agency) and they offered me a job as a photographer. I realized this is what I wanted to do with my life & to further develop myself I decided to study in London which is a global hub that will definitely give me creativity & inspiration. I then applied to fashion photography courses & LCF rejected me so I got a place in the SSU studying Fashion with Photography which I really enjoy but I think LCF is where I want to get taught this is why I decided to take the ââ¬Å"Fashion Photography 1â⬠course starting this February to keep broaden my knowledge and be more repared if I received the opportunity to study in this prestigious university. In the fashion industry, I worked for Marta Stella which designed hats for the ââ¬Å"The Skin I Liveâ⬠directed by Almodovar. Julian Mateo Atelier, Vicente Gracia, etc. I shoot the accessories campaign of Amparo Chorda, a designer who appeared on the NY Fashion Week & my work has appeared in press and TV. I photographed an event in London Cuckoo Club. This work experiences enable me to develop professional skills, meet d eadlines & work as a team.In my free time, I enjoy viewing contemporary magazines & sites: 125 magazine, Love, Tank, Let them Eat Cake, Lula, Self Service, Purple, and V Mag. Furthermore, blogs like Alice Point & websties like fashiongonerogue are a source of ideas for me. Furthermore, I enjoy researching & watching documentaries about photographers e. g: Bailey & the movement of the swinging London, I admire his tightly cropped high-contrast images. However, I appreciate fashion photography from Corinne Day style to Vadukul.Demarchelier is probably my favorite photographer; I adore the Pirelli Calendar 2008, is awesome: the Asian influence, styling, cold tones, etc. This is a clear e. g of what I want to do. Styling & make-up are others of my passions. I admire Babeth because of her minimalism & masculinity, C. Roitfeld and K. Grand. Finally, I know I am not the best applicant but I just feel sparkling emotions when I am doing a shoot, when I am styling & when I direct models which completely fulfills me.
